by Dr. Christopher Milkie

How do you know when to call the doctor? Many people put off making an appointment, hoping that their problems will resolve on their own. This can often be dangerous, as it can lead to greater injury and a longer recovery. Seeking treatment sooner can often save you a lot of time – and pain! Contact us for an appointment right away if you have:

  • Pain that continues for more than 72 hours
  • Swelling of one ankle or foot that continues for more than 24 hours
  • Pain that increases with exercise or walking
  • Pain at rest or with elevation of the feet and ankles
  • Sudden progression or change in your foot posture, or shape
  • Any infection
  • Development of a blister or ulcer on the foot that you did not feel occuring or which is not healing
  • A flattening of the arch on just one foot – this could be PTD
  • Loss of sensation

Sharing is caring!
