Plantar Fasciitis, or typical heel pain, is very common. We help patients with this condition every day, and the vast majority of them with non-surgical care. It can be caused by overuse or injury of the plantar fascia, a large tendon on the bottom of your foot. A change or increase in exercise, standing for long periods of time, shoes with poor quaility or fit, and minor trauma can all be causes. In the UK, plantar faciitis is called “Policeman’s Heel,” showing that it can frequently be caused by jobs that require a lot of walking and standing.
