With warmer weather coming soon (we hope), many of our patients have been asking us for sandal selection advice. It can be difficult to find brands that are healthy for your feet, while still having some style. Here are my comfortable sandal choices and reviews for women.

Vionic with Orthoheel – I own and love these. Dressy wedge options that will keep you happy at casual summer weddings and events.

Birkenstocks  – An oldie but a goodie – one of the most well known comfort sandal brands with good arch support – they have a lot of options beyond the plain brown granola looks you may remember!

Betula by Birkenstock — This is a more affordable line by Birkenstocks. The quality may not be the same, but they are great if you are on a  budget. I have had the flip flops and some other sandals.  These may not last as long as more expensive options.  When I was younger, these were all I could afford and saved me from painful feet at my summer job!

OluKai Ohana – hand crafted and “water friendly”

SOLE – Heat moldable footbeds for unique support to prevent foot pain

Spenco  – Flip flops with arch support and a metatarsal pad

OTZ  (I just bought a pair of their clogs and will report back ! So far, I find that they are very similar to Birkenstock, with a different style.)

Merell – Great slip-on sandal styles to keep you cool and comforable

Keen – Keen shoes and sandals have a casual or sport look, but would be great for outdoor activites where you need more protection

Teva – More than just the waterproof velcro sandals you remember (though they still have those, too)!

Whether you spend days at Summerfest, or are just walking along the lake, I hope that that these sandal tips will keep you moving around  Milwaukee this summer without any foot pain. If you have any favorites to suggest or specific questions, let us know!
