FINDING THE RIGHT DOCTORS FOR NEUROPATHY TREATMENT IN WISCONSIN
By Dr. Steven Waldman of Milwaukee Foot & Ankle Specialists of Milwaukee, WI
Who should you see to treat your neuropathy pain? What does neuropathy treatment consist of? Many of our patients have seen multiple providers; chiropractors, physical therapists, their primary care physician, podiatrists, and neurologists. Successfully treating peripheral neuropathy often involves more than one provider, and can have many elements. All of these pieces work together to make you feel the best that you can. Even if you have had peripheral neuropathy for a long time, your life can still improve if we can help to find the missing element for you.
The first step is a full work-up and an accurate diagnosis to rule out other conditions and infections that may be causing your pain. Tests to check for peripheral neuropathy in your feet include an EMG, or electromyography test, and an epidermal nerve fiber density test. Your Milwaukee WI podiatrist may also take x-rays and perform a diagnostic ultrasound in the office to check for any other issues that could be causing pain in your feet and ankles. Occasionally, a CT Scan or MRI may be needed.
Common components of your peripheral neuropathy care can include physical therapy, and medication for neuropathy. We have also seen neuropathy patients with pinched nerves needing release, or treatment for neuritis – an inflammation of the nerves in your feet. Every patient is unique. As podiatrists, we are experts in treating neuropathy in your feet, and any other foot and ankle conditions that may be causing your pain.
At Milwaukee Foot and Ankle Specialists, we have the most cutting edge and innovative technology available. By having digital scanning technology for orthotics, digital X-rays, digital diagnostic ultrasound, laser for removal of toenail fungus & more all in office and available in a moments notice allows you to save time and money.
We look forward to helping you!
