2015 was the year when comfort was king in the Racine, WI area. Though comfort shoes did not have a strong presence during fashion week this year, sneakers snuck through! Most of our go to designers such as Michael Kors, are still pushing their sneaker lines down the runway and there are many others following suite. Stay comfy and keep wearing those casual athletic shoes.
THE WEST HAS WON!
Western inspired boots will be hitting the shelves soon. Watch out for the narrow toe box. Famous for it’s pointy style, these toe pinchers can be brutal on your feet. If you can’t resist the trend, make sure you have the right fit and stay away from synthetic materials. Leather will be more forgiving on your skin. Don’t go sockless in Racine, WI and when you blister (you will blister), give your feet a break and go to the trusted sneaker!
Let your heels breath! Backless is everywhere. Chunky backless mules will be HOT this summer. Pro: That nasty irritation you get on your heels evaporates. Con: Not everyone can master a graceful strut while trying to walk and keep these shoes on the feet. The lack of a heel strap or counter means your foot can easily slip out, add a heel and it makes walking a little tricky. Many come with peep toes, which can cause toe pain if standing our walking for any extended period of time. Wear with caution.
Though Hot on the runway in 2015, it wasn’t a big hit on the shelves. Designers aren’t giving up. Platform flats, more casual than years prior, will continue to linger. Will they go viral is still unknown. If you are scared of heights or have balance issues, stay away. They can be relatively comfortable but much like the backless brands, walking in them can be tricky. You have less proprioception or feeling of the foot relative to the ground. WARNING: FALL RISK!
