It sounds like a complicated procedure, but is it really? Actually, it isn’t. Ostectomy is the medical term for bone spur removal. It happens to be one of the more common procedures that we perform. Some ostectomies can even be done right in our office under local anethesia. Bone spurs are common in many parts of the foot. A bone spur is simply an enlargement of the bone. Some of the more common parts of the foot for a bone spur to form are between the toes, the bottom of the heel, and the top fo the midfoot. Some are large, and others are quite small. The small ones, found mostly between the toes, are the kind that we can remove in the office.
