Podiatrist Caught With Painted Toes!
Nail polish is bad; it is poison for your nails. Stay away from pedicures! This is what you expect to hear from your podiatrist. At Milwaukee Foot and Ankle Specialist, our doctors are throwing those tall tails out the window. One doctor even admits to almost always having (his/her) nails painted. We’ll let you guess which doctor loves to wear pink!
Why does nail polish get a bad reputation?
First, we must disclose that nail polish can be harmful. Most nail polishes contain harsh chemicals that can weaken and damage the nail. Once the nail is damaged, it is more susceptible to breaking, cracking, and the most dreaded, a fungal infection. Some infections even flourish between the polish and nail. Have you ever removed your nail polish and noticed a white film or yellow discoloration?
Are all nail polishes bad?
No, not all nail polishes are bad. There are several brands that are becoming more popular that are both nourishing and protective. At our office, we supply Dr. Remedy’s Nail Polish. This polish is free of harmful toxins in most nail polishes like formaldehyde, Toluene, and DPB, all know to cause health problems and nail damage. Dr. Remedy is also enriched with vitamins C and E and natural antifungals. It is manufactures from organic ingredients and is vegan!
How do you use nail polish safely?
Did you know that our hair, skin, and nails are all made out of the same protein?
We spend a lot of time and money on products to keep our hair and skin healthy, so why don’t we pay attention to the nails? The trick is to use a healthy nail polish brand like Dr. Remedy that nourishes the nail as we wear. It is also important to change the nail polish often. We have all been guilty of leaving our toenail polish on for months at a time. Just like we wash our hair to remove gunck and grime, our nails need some tender love and care to stay healthy.
We have a variety of awesome colors to choose from and if you want to hear any testimonials, just ask our staff. Nearly all of our employees are hooked on this polish…. Even some of the Doctors!
